STUDENT PROJECTS
Students become dendrochronologists (scientists that study tree rings) and are each given a blank log slice to observe, to measure and finally to paint. Students receive a lesson in landscape painting and color mixing and then create their own landscape. When the painting is complete there’s no need for matting or a frame- the tree’s bark provides the perfect border. This project is designed for older students (grades 4 and up) and requires added classroom time. Two classroom visits are recommended.
