Scale and detail are the focus of this art activity. Each student receives a peanut to study carefully, and to represent in a detailed contour line drawing that captures every depression and every irregularity of the individual peanut. Students will be shown basic techniques of enlarging, shading and creating texture to apply to their drawings. Following the drawing exercise, the peanuts will be collected and regrouped and students will be asked to reclaim their peanut from the pile, testing each studentÃs precision in observation and preservation.
